Ukrainian Ministry Presents New Books On Papal Visit
Ukraine’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs on 28 September 2001 presented two new publications dedicated to His Holiness John Paul II’s visit to Ukraine this past June. Kazakhs Will Hear Pope in Russian; Also a Stop in Armenia
VATICAN CITY, AUG. 28, 2001 (Zenit.org).- On the heels of his historic trip to Ukraine, John Paul II is anticipating his next pilgrimage, to Kazakhstan and Armenia. This Sept. 22-27 trip will have even greater repercussions in Russia, since the Pope will speak in Russian when he visitsKazakhstan, a former Soviet republic. Pope Greets Ukrainians On 10th Anniversary of Independence

Over 50% of Ukrainians View Papal Visit Positively
Kyiv, 2 August 2001: In a July survey, 51% of Ukraine's population considered the visit of His Holiness Pope John Paul II to Ukraine positively. This national sociological survey of 1,200 persons was conducted by SOCIS - a member of the Gallup International Association in Ukraine, for the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church. Pope John Paul II made a five-day visit to Ukraine in June of this year, including visits to the cities of Kyiv and Lviv. Read more »»

Pope Will Also Find Ukrainians in Kazakhstan
Pope John Paul II is planning to make a pastoral visit to Kazakhstan from 22 to 25 September 2001. As he travels to yet another country of the former Soviet Union he will find a sizable Ukrainian community there. U.S. Ukrainian Catholics find hope in pope's trip to homeland
QUEENS, N.Y. Saw it with my own eyes on Ukrainian television. On Wednesday, right before the Greek Catholic Liturgy in Lviv, Fr. Gudziak, the Rector of the Lviv Theological Academy, was at the podium addressing the crowd of one million people (talk about a rush!) as John-Paul II was making his way towards the front. Russians Impressed With Pope During His Ukraine Trip
